Position Title: Payroll/HR Specialist
Position Overview:
As the Payroll/HR Specialist for our esteemed small-sized, minority-owned construction company, you will play a pivotal role in the efficient and effective management of our human resources operations. This multifaceted position entails overseeing payroll administration, human resources functions, and fostering a supportive workplace environment in alignment with our company values and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Administration:
Manage end-to-end payroll processes, including but not limited to data entry, processing payroll transactions, and ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Stay updated on legislative changes and industry best practices related to payroll processing and taxation, implementing necessary adjustments to maintain compliance.
Human Resources Management:
Serve as the primary point of contact for all HR-related inquiries, providing guidance and support to employees on matters such as benefits, policies, and procedures.
Assist in the recruitment and onboarding process by coordinating interviews, conducting orientations, and facilitating new hire paperwork.
Maintain employee records and documentation, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to data protection regulations.
Employee Relations:
Foster positive working relationships among employees and management, addressing any concerns or grievances in a fair and respectful manner.
Collaborate with supervisors and department heads to implement performance management processes, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and professional development initiatives.
Facilitate employee recognition programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing morale and engagement within the workplace.
Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, as well as industry-specific regulations governing payroll and HR practices.
Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies, such as tax filings, EEO-1 reports, and other mandated documentation.
Conduct regular audits of HR and payroll processes to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Prior experience in payroll administration and/or human resources management within the construction industry is highly desirable.
Proficiency in payroll software and HRIS systems, as well as advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Strong understanding of labor laws and regulations governing payroll, taxation, and employee benefits.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.
