Summary:
As the Director of Payroll, you will play a pivotal role in configuring and maintaining systems and applications supporting payroll, time, and absence management across our organization. Working closely with HR, IT, vendors, and key stakeholders, you'll ensure seamless functionality, accuracy, and security of our payroll systems. Championing enhancements and creative solutions, you'll drive efficiency and effectiveness within our Finance department. This position reports directly to the Assistant Controller.
Essential Functions:
- Demonstrate expert-level proficiency in Workday Payroll.
- Manage bi-weekly and on-demand disbursement of multi-state payroll, including garnishments, benefits, and taxes, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Develop and implement strategies for continuous improvement in payroll processing and delivery.
- Engage with cross-functional leadership to deliver regular KPI briefings and management reporting.
- Develop budgets, policies, and procedures to support the functional area infrastructure.
- Manage relationships with third-party payroll services providers and tax vendors, ensuring payroll tax compliance.
- Collaborate with HRIS team to implement innovative programs and processes for the Payroll Department.
- Oversee internal business process controls and engage with internal/external audit requests.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directly supervise a team of 3 - 5 employees and/or contractors.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- 10 years of managerial experience.
- 5 years of experience with Workday Payroll and reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications.
- Ability to clear required background checks.
Desired Qualifications/Certifications:
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC).
- Experience with financial systems (NetSuite preferred).
Work Environment:
- Available to travel to corporate headquarters at least 10% of the time.
- The work environment is usually moderate in noise level.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range: $111,036 - $200,746.50 (subject to factors such as education, experience, and location).
- Eligible for bonus.
- Robust benefits package including health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
