Alliance Resource Group is exclusively partnered with a retail company in their search for a Director of Payroll.

About the Role

Lead and direct the payroll function for a large, multi-site organization. This role involves overseeing a team, ensuring compliance, and driving continuous improvement in payroll processes. Relocation assistance is available.

Responsibilities

• Leadership & Strategy:
• Provide thought leadership and implement Payroll best practices.
• Identify and implement process improvements to support organizational needs and achieve continuous quality improvement.
• Provide guidance on operational standards and oversee efforts to automate and improve Payroll operations.

Payroll Operations:

Ensure adherence to standards and production that results in timely and accurate payroll processing.

Coordinate payroll operations with Finance & Accounting, HR, Operations, and other relevant departments.

Collaborate with the HRIS team on system changes and implementations.

Ensure superior customer service from the Payroll Team, responding to employee questions promptly.

Ensure the resolution of escalated payroll issues.

Lead projects focused on continuous improvement of payroll processes.

Supervisory:

Manage and develop Payroll Team members, including hiring, professional development, and performance evaluation.
Qualifications

• 10+ years of combined payroll experience, including 5+ years as a Manager.
• 5+ years of direct responsibility for payroll administration in a multi-site organization
• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience).
• Strong knowledge of current payroll and HRIS systems
• Experience with payroll taxation at all levels (federal, state, and local).
• Excellent analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to identify and resolve complex problems.
• Ability to independently manage projects.
