About The Position
The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of the weekly payroll and benefits processes for all employees in an efficient, accurate and confidential manner. This position includes administrative duties involving the development and maintenance of payroll systems, internal controls and records, and the supervision of the day-to-day payroll processing operations and related accounting entries
Responsibilities
- Assist with the processing of weekly payroll using HRIS system to ensure compliance, accuracy, and efficiency
- Check tip sheets to ensure distributed amounts match what is rung into the point of sales (POS) and employee hours match time punches
- Critically review pre-process payroll journals to ensure correct and accurate payroll processing
- Manage Time & Attendance with support staff and supervisors while maintaining precise payroll records
- Liaison with venue managers to resolve any payroll discrepancies
- Processes employee changes and terminations
- Assist with benefit administration; audit monthly benefit invoices
- Ensure compliance and adhere to company’s policies relating to processing of wages and paid time off
- Provide service to all employees regarding concerns with payroll and benefits, research and troubleshoot any/all inquiries.
- Coordinate resolutions with payroll and benefit representatives and insurance carriers to address any inquiries/requests on an ongoing basis.
- Maintain business controls and audit trails for all payroll transactions, garnishments, etc.
- Handle unemployment claims and inquiries
- Maintain control of company payroll files, with strict confidentiality
- Filing, scheduling meetings, and managing all payroll needs
- Assists department with additional duties as needed
Skills & Requirements
- 1- 3 years payroll experience
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and time sensitive deadlines, efficiently.
- Meticulous attention to detail, self-motivated, maintains confidentiality.
- Advanced computer skills in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint) and expert knowledge of grammar, punctuation and editing.
- Knowledge of Ultipro/Ultimate a plus
- Experience with hospitality industry payroll compliance a plus
- Strong working knowledge of payroll practices and labor & compliance guidelines.
- Experience with report writing module, exporting/importing for monthly reporting
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and establish effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Strong communication, organization of tasks and customer service skills are a must.
- Proactive and capable of working as a member of a team, as well as independently.
- Ability to anticipate important timing needs that may impact the company’s payroll and benefits.
- Understanding the importance and sensitivity of the payroll coordinator position and its confidentiality.
Physical Demands
- The physical demands for this position are seeing, hearing, speaking, reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds, sitting, standing, for 5 to 10 hours, bending, and moving intermittently during working hours. These physical requirements may be accomplished with or without reasonable accommodations.
