Job Title: Payroll & Compliance Analyst 1
Job Profile Summary
This position reports to the Payroll Manager and under general supervision, is responsible for collecting, verifying, processing and supporting the pension payroll related transactions. Also, maintains accurate records and files. In addition, this position assists with rehired retiree compliance reporting and overpayment recovery processing. This is the training level of the Payroll Job series. Incumbents at this level may require additional training or experience to gain full proficiency in some or all of the job responsibilities.
Job Responsibilities & Performance Standards
· Performs general clerical responsibilities including entering, processing, transmitting and proofing payroll data
· May process and enter levies and other court ordered payments into payroll system
· Responds to basic payroll related requests maintaining confidentiality of records including lost checks and forgery affidavits
· Generates compliance reports for rehired retiree reporting
· Pulls and distributes payroll items that require special handling
· Assists with monthly retiree payroll reconciliation
· Assists retirees and beneficiaries as required
· Maintains files and records
· May assist with special projects as required

ERS Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field OR Associate’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND two years of payroll or related accounting experience OR Four years of payroll or related accounting experience.

Work Environment
This is a general office environment consisting of cubicle desk space. Ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment are provided as found in a typical office environment.
Physical Demands
Individuals working in this job are required to multi-task while seated. This includes answering phone calls, research information, and typing using computers throughout the workday. Also may require walking periodically, primarily on a level surface. Must be able to reach above shoulder height, below the waist, or lift (up to 25 pounds) to file documents or store materials.
Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university; or two (2) years of payroll/accounting job-related experience.
