Job Summary:
The Payroll Associate II will be responsible for administering pay, maintaining payroll records, and compiling related payroll reports, as well as establishment, maintenance, review, and disposition of time and leave records for employees. Positions require a substantial knowledge of pay and/or leave rules, regulations, procedures, programs, and systems requirements.
Under the direct supervision of the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Associate II is responsible for the accurate and timely processing for multiple subsidiaries within the Family of Companies (FOC) at Reliance, Inc. The Payroll Associate II will process weekly, bi-weekly and off cycle payrolls. Processing includes updating data, time and labor, commissions, bonuses and off-cycle manual checks.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Processes weekly, bi-weekly and/or off-cycle payrolls for multiple subsidiaries within the FOC at Reliance, Inc.
- Updates payroll data and processes time and labor, commissions, incentives, bonuses, onsite checks, and any other earnings as requested.
- Processes and records adjustments to pay related to payroll elections, benefits, or retroactive increases.
- Organizes and prioritizes daily workload to assure task are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Monitors case management for employees and managers payroll inquiries regularly to ensure service level agreements and high subsidiary satisfaction are met.
- Manages the timely resolution of subsidiary issues including handling escalations, perform and document Root Cause Analysis and implement remedial procedures to close gaps identified.
- Assists with analyzing reports as necessary for use by the subsidiaries and colleagues.
- Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings and provides coverage/assists other Payroll staff as needed.
- Works on special projects as assigned by management.
- Creates and maintains required payroll Standard Operating Procedures and/or other documentation.
- Assists with preparing documentation for payroll inquiries, audits, or other reviews, as needed.
- Responsible for adhering to safety processes and protocols.
- Work on special projects as assigned by the Payroll Lead, Payroll Manager and/or the HR Operations Manager.
- HS diploma / GED required; Associates degree or higher preferred
- 2+ years full service payroll experience is required; multi-state experience strongly preferred
- Ceridian Dayforce experience is a plus
- Union payroll knowledge is strongly desired
- Thorough knowledge of federal, state and local tax withholding requirements and garnishment procedures required
- Union experience a plus
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Able to work independently as well as within a team environment
- Experience in a shared service center environment is desired
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong experience with the Microsoft Office Suite of products (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Must be organized and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
