Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in payroll administration and be adept at handling complex payroll tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
Duration: Temp to Hire position
Location: Onsite - Mattoon, IL
Pay Rate: $20.00-30.00 per hour, depending on experience
Hours: Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and audit employee records to ensure accurate payment of wages for 1,500+ hourly and salaried employees across multiple states on a bi-weekly basis.
- Update and maintain employee records within HRIS software, including taxes, earnings, and deductions.
- Print and distribute payroll checks and direct deposit advices.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
- Research and respond to internal and external inquiries regarding employee records.
- Analyze and test system modifications related to payroll processes.
- Reconcile payroll deductions and bank accounts with corresponding general ledger accounts; create necessary journal entries.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance departments to ensure accurate and efficient payroll processing.
- Adhere to internal controls and provide necessary documentation to internal and external auditors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in payroll administration required.
- Pre-Employment background check, drug screen and education verification.
- Associate's degree and 5-7 years of experience in payroll administration preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Organized and detail-oriented team player with problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Proficient in Excel.
- Experience with PeopleSoft or similar HRIS systems.
