Responsibilities:Position Summary:
The Patient Navigator role is part of a dynamic Care team within the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer center. Incumbent will assist with navigating all aspects of the healthcare system. Primary goals are to increase patient satisfaction and to optimize care and outcomes. The Patient Navigator works on building effective rapport with patients and families so can act as a communication liaison to understand the patient's non-clinical individual needs, desires, and concerns.
Uses knowledge of the Cancer Center and healthcare system to resolve issues and identify ways to increase patient satisfaction and outcomes. Collaborates with department leadership to meet patient expectations, solidifies positive patient-provider relationships, address barriers to care access, achieves quality outcomes and builds a patient focused culture.

Required Qualifications:
- Resourcefulness to identify and search for information and resolve problems independently
- Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently and successfully manage multiple/competing priorities and deadlines
- Ability to professionally interact with high profile customers and patients
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
- 3 years experience in healthcare related field
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a clinical setting
- Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology
