MD Anderson is hiring for Patient Care Technicians for our Acute Care Cancer Center, Hematology, Surgical, Medical and Specialty Services Units!
Inpatient Operations is staffed by more than 2,200 employees and includes facilities, staff and leadership that support surgical units, medical units, hematology units, pediatric units and specialty services, including the Acute Cancer Care Center, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) and Dialysis. The inpatient population is housed in the location at the Texas Medical Center with more than 680 beds. The Acute Cancer Care Center is located at the base of the Lutheran Tower with 41 beds. The Infusion Therapy Center supports venous access across the inpatient services as well as in two outpatient locations in the LeMaistre Clinic building and the Mays building.
Ideal candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of recent experience working as a Nursing Assistant in an acute care setting. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources. Prefer one year of recent experience working in direct patient care.
Must be able to work a combination of 12 and 8 hr. shifts including alternate weekends and holidays. Day/Eve: 7am-7pm, 7am-3pm and/or 3pm-11pm. Eve/Night: 7pm-7am, 3pm-11pm, and/or 11pm-7am.
The Patient Care Technician provides patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse. Impacts patient comfort and outcome of care. Acts as member of a multidisciplinary team that identifies and addresses patient care needs. Assists in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, admit/discharge and obtaining vital signs. Updates and retrieves patient information. Ensures patient environment is maintained in a clean, safe and orderly manner. Acts as part of an assigned care team.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
Preferred: One year of recent experience working as a Nursing Assistant in an acute care setting.
Licensure/Certification
Preferred: Nursing Assistant Certification.
