Job Description:
If you are a caretaker at heart, consider joining the Beverly Hospital team as a Patient Care Technician under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will provide basic patient care activities in providing for the personal needs, comfort and safety of your patients.
Position Summary:
The Patient Care Technician will provide basic care activities and provide personal needs, comfort and safety of your patient. The Patient Care Technician assists with the delivery of patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse. The primary responsibility will be focus on performing technical, therapeutic, administrative tasks and procedures for which they have been trained. The Patient Care Technician must demonstrate the ability and willingness to participate in a patient care team as a multi-skilled caregiver responsible for quality of own work and remain flexible in response to change.
Examples of tasks to be completed
+ Vital Signs
+ Height and Weight
+ Oxygen Saturation
+ Reporting all unusual observations to the nurse
+ Collecting various specimens for analysis
+ Recording and measuring intake and output
+ Providing patient with personal care and assisting with daily activities
+ Performing basic clinical procedures independently or under the supervision of the RN
+ Provide nutritional needs including assisting and ordering room service, setting up meal trays and feeding.
Education/Experience :
+ High School Diploma or equivalent required
+ Ability to read/write and perform basic 4 function math
+ Desire to help people and/or have aspirations of becoming a healthcare professional
+ Basic computer skills (preferred)
+ Medical terminology (preferred)
+ Basic Life Support certification (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.
Performs a variety of computer, clerical, and supply functions necessary for the operation of the nursing unit. Responsibilities include handling and controlling written and verbal communications between nursing unit, personnel and numerous physicians, ancillary services, patients, visitors and families, and the organization of the patient medical record.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High School graduate. Successful completion of Administrative Associate training or previous medical secretary/medical records experience preferred. Medical terminology preferred. Computer experience required. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Certification/License: CNA Certification preferred but not required upon hire, BLS
