Per Diem Weekend - Patient Care Secretary
8am-6pm Saturday's and Sunday's
Salary: $21/hr
Must be computer savvy, have excellent customer service skills, some knowledge about hospice preferred, Spanish speaking preferred.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Patient Care Secretary is responsible for ensuring patient care records are maintained according to laws and regulations and the hospice program’s policies and procedures. The Patient Care Secretary is responsible for keeping medical record information confidential and protected from loss or destruction.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
High School Education or equivalent.
Experience
Minimum requirement of one year experience working in an office setting. Experience in medical records preferred.
Must have valid Driver's License.
Core Competencies
Knowledge of medical terminology and regulations regarding medical records, confidentiality and HIPAA. Ability to demonstrate good organization and filing skills.
GENERAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBLITIES
- Orders supplies, equipment, and documentation forms used by the team.
- Maintains accurate tracking systems to review documentation and ensure compliance.
- Keeps supervisor informed of audit trends and need for follow-up.
- Protects medical records from loss or destruction by implementing a system of accountability.
- Protects medical records from breaches of confidentiality and/ or unauthorized use.
- Disposes of records according to record retention policies.
- Prepares reports and documents for use and IDG and ensures prompt return of documents and records.
- Keeps track of certifications, re-certifications, telephone orders, assessments and logs as required.
- Assures sufficient availability of admission packages and clinical and medical forms for staffs use.
- Assembles and disassembles active and inactive charts.
- Maintains logs and records.
- Assists with review and processing of itineraries and timesheets.
- Attends and participates in in-services, staff meetings and case conferences when requited.
- Enters patient care data into program systems.
- Cover receptionist during lunch periods or other breaks or when absent.
- Maintains confidentiality of records and is cognizant of patient and employee privacy rights.
- Complies with hospice policies and procedures, laws and regulations and standards of practice.
- Performs any other assigned tasks.
