About the Job
Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital as a Patient Care Manager (PCM) in the Surgical department. Here, you will adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care and observe all corporate compliance requirements. You will communicate issues as they arise to the appropriate parties as identified in the Corporate Compliance Plan. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.
Eligible for a Sign-on Bonus up to $15,000
Under the supervision of the Supervisor and Director, you will support and encourage employees to assume responsibility for their job performance. Stimulate staff to continuously improve their performance, thereby improving organizational performance. Essential Job Functions
- Prepares and administers departmental/unit operating and capital budgets in collaboration with the Director/Vice President of Operations to ensure sufficient funds and personnel to accomplish departmental/unit objectives within approved financial guidelines
- Maintain fiscal/budget initiatives within designated areas of responsibility including expense management and revenue enhancement
- Maintains an environment which is characterized by trust, acceptance, recognition and respect
- Strong patient advocate
- Actively supports the vision, philosophy, mission, goals, and objectives of the hospital
- Provide leadership for all staff in designated areas of responsibility
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies and procedures as pertains to areas of responsibility
- Monitor operational systems to ensure optimal efficiency
- Initiate and develop opportunities for management and staff development
- Development and maintenance of collaborative relationships with department managers, directors, physicians, and related external contacts in order to meet department objectives
- Responsible for managing, developing, hiring, disciplinary actions including termination, performance evaluations, retention, employee relations, compensation, coaching, counseling, and interviewing of management and staff within departments
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) OR Associate's (ADN)
- Must hold a current RN Licensure State of Illinois Department of Professional Regulation or valid temporary permit to practice nursing in the State of Illinois
- Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
- 3-5 years of RN experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree (MSN)
- Prior leadership experience
- Interpersonal skills necessary to work productively with all levels of hospital personnel and to facilitate the activities of a group of employees
- Obtains certification/competencies relevant as determined by the department

Compensation & Benefits Overview
UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.
The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
