About the Job
The Patient Care Associate provides nursing related services to patients and functions in an assistant role to the nurse by supporting personal hygiene, daily living needs, providing comfort and patient care.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide patients' personal hygiene by giving bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, and shaves; assisting with showers and baths.
- Provide assistance with daily living by serving meals, feeding, ambulating, turning, and positioning patients; providing fresh water and nourishment between meals.
- Provide adjunct care by administering nonsterile dressings, surgical preps, ice packs, heat treatments, sitz and therapeutic baths
- Maintain patient stability by checking vital signs and weight; testing urine; recording intake and output information.
- Provide patient comfort by transporting patients, answering call lights and requests and reporting observations to nurse.
- Comply with safety regulations and use of equipment for patient care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation timely.
- Perform all duties and procedures as defined and authorized by Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN) under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Experience:
None required.
Licensure/Certification:
State Registered Nurse Aid (SRNA) or actively enrolled and have completed 1st semester of LPN or RN Nursing school
