The Role Itself
NewVista is currently recruiting for a Patient Account Specialist. This position is part of the Central Business office and an integral part of the company's Revenue Cycle. The team member is responsible for providing financial support in all aspects of insurance claims billing, follow up on denials, and appeals.
- Manage accounts receivable data ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and compliance.
- Update corrected patient demographic data and insurance information into the medical software system.
- Keep updated on all billing and benefit changes for insurance payers.
- Process rejection of electronic EDI reports and electronic payer remits.
- Communicate with insurance payers, government payers and third parties as a representative of NewVista to ensure accurate reimbursement of hospital claims.
- Work as a liaison between NewVista and payers to determine billing and reimbursement inconsistencies.
- File technical appeals with payers based on billing and coding errors.
- Attend payer seminars for continuing education in billing and accounts receivable.
- Effectively communicate with medical facility staff, patients, and/or insurance payers as needed.
Job Requirements:
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
Work Experience:
- 1 year of facility revenue cycle experience to include insurance billing and/or follow up.
- 6 months experience in writing technical and medical necessity appeals to insurance companies.
