Pathology Scribe / Transcription - on call - Vancouver Clinic

About the Job
Must be able to accurately type and transcribe at a minimum of 60 words per minute. This position is on call, will need to be flexible to work as needed. On call schedule varies, but most common would be Mon - Fri 12pm to 6pm.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Transcribe assigned dictation as needed of pathology reports dictated by Pathologists and Grossing personnel.
- Completes monthly Quality Control reviews of Pathology Coordinator tasks
- Assign cases for Quality Control Review to pathologists bi-weekly. Record completed documentation.
- Orders non-technical supplies and oversees maintenance of dictation equipment.
- Performs internal prior-authorization process. Submits authorization requests to referral team.
- Organize and provide reports on a timely basis to Laboratory Administrator as requested.
- Confirm billing codes on pathology requisitions against those listed in patient charts in EPIC.
- Provide assistance for Pathologists to identifying billing codes, as appropriate.
- Performs multiple office functions including answering phones, providing test results to physicians by phone or fax, coordinating cases for specialty conferences, transcribing dictated Pathology reports and sending slides to other laboratories for review.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Medical Terminology.
- Ability to perform accurate keyboarding skills at a minimum of 60 wpm.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Medical scribe / transcription experience required, preferably in Pathology.
- Minimum two years of experience in a Clinical or Anatomic Pathology Lab strongly preferred.
- Associates degree in biology or related field preferred.
- Billing / Coding experience preferred.
Pay Range:
$21.77 - $30.47
