Location: Atlanta, GA
Salary: Starting at $70,000
Up to $7,500 Sign On Bonus
Shift: Monday-Friday, Days - 4am-12:30pm
Job Summary:
The Pathology Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and accurate operation of the pathology department within our hospital. This role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities in the pathology laboratory, managing a team of clinical professionals, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines. The Pathology Supervisor works closely with the Director of Pathology to deliver high-quality diagnostic services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage the daily operations of the pathology department, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of pathology services.
- Provide leadership, direction, and support to the pathology team, including medical technologists, histotechnologists, and cytologists.
- Monitor and maintain quality control and assurance standards within the laboratory.
- Implement and adhere to safety and infection control protocols in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with the Director of Pathology in planning, organizing, and managing the budget for the department.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines for clinical laboratory practices.
- Participate in the development and implementation of new laboratory procedures and protocols.
- Oversee and assist with the maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Provide technical expertise and support in the event of complex or challenging cases.
- Assist with the recruitment, training, and evaluation of laboratory staff.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, and professionalism within the department.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in Histotechnology or closely related field
- Three (3) years of clinical experience, preferably in an acute care hospital setting.
- Certification in medical technology, medical laboratory scientist, or related field (if managing Clinical Laboratory) by ASCP, AMT, or AAB.
- Certification as a Histotechnologist HTL, Histotechnician HT, and/or Cytologist CT (if managing Anatomic Pathology) by ASCP.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
