Key Responsibilities:

• Specimen Examination and Dissection: Meticulously examine, dissect, and provide detailed gross descriptions of surgical specimens under the supervision of Pathologists.
• Post-Mortem Examinations: Conduct and document findings on post-mortem examinations, ensuring thoroughness and accuracy.
• Documentation and Imaging: Photograph surgical and autopsy specimens, maintaining clear and organized records for further analysis.
• Tissue Procurement: Carefully procure tissue samples for the Tissue Bank, following established protocols and procedures.
• Billing Verification: Verify the accuracy of surgical pathology specimen billing to ensure proper reimbursement.
• Collaboration: Assist Pathologists in various tasks as needed, demonstrating a strong understanding of laboratory procedures and protocols.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education: Bachelor's degree (4-year)
• Experience: Proven experience grossing simple to complex specimens.
• Certification and Licensure: ASCP Pathologists' Assistant certification (required within one year of hire)
• Required Skills:
  • Excellent dictation and transcription skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • General clerical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Ability to operate a multi-line telephone system
