JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Dissect and submit appropriate sections of surgical pathology specimens and dictate gross descriptions.
- Supervise workflow for surgical specimens once accessioned and through gross dissection.
- Act as liaison for PA's to Administration, Pathologists, Transcription, Histology, and other departments and facilities.
- Actively participate in, and have knowledge of, laboratory performance improvement activities, including resolution of grossing issues and concerns and evaluation of new equipment and/or procedures.
- Perform personnel-related duties such as interviewing, hiring, scheduling, completing performance evaluations/corrective action notices, competency assessment, training, and supervising of grossing staff.
- Create and update grossing standard operating procedures and grossing protocols.
- Monitor and make adjustments as needed to workflow and processes.
- Continuously monitor and address issues with grossing quality, productivity, and turnaround times.
- Exercise all laboratory safety precautions and adhere to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals.
- Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry's best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data.
- Become familiar with and abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and all corporate policies, including the Privacy and Security policies; and especially policies that impact Pathologist Assistants directly.
Requirements :
- Bachelor degree as a Pathologist Assistant is required.
- ASCP or equivalent certification as a Pathologist Assistant required.
- Maintains appropriate continuing education for certification/licensure, and to increase basic knowledge.
- Successful completion of a formal Pathologist Assistant Training program.
- Minimum of three years of experience as a Pathologist Assistant.
- Minimum of one year of experience as a supervisor or manager in a laboratory setting.
