Pathobiology Contractor II
Location: Foster City (onsite)
Duration: 17-18 months
Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Emerging Technologies/ Multiplexing group within Pathobiology to support inflammation, oncology, and virology therapeutic areas.
The candidate provide laboratory support for multi-omics projects encompassing but not limited to transcriptomics and multiplex assays (Akoya CODEX).
Key responsibilities include preparation of tissue specimens, slide/curl preparation for different workflows (standard histology as well as molecular pathology workflows) and running automated and manual immunofluorescence assays.
The successful candidate will enjoy working in a team; carefully follow scientific protocols and apply meticulous attention to detail; is highly organized, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Essential Duties and Job Functions:
Must be able to perform histology lab functions methodically and in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures
Perform routine histology such as preparing and sectioning tissues
Experience with high order multiplex assays (CODEX or similar) is a plus
Maintain required documentation of protocols, reports and ELN entries.
Be responsible for maintenance of assigned laboratory equipment and ensuring compliance with laboratory policies.
Experience using a LIMS system (e.g. PRIMA) is a plus
Experience with IHC/IF assay development using automated IHC platforms (Ventana, BondRx or similar) is a plus
Experience with whole slide scanners to scan and organize brightfield and immunofluorescent slides is a plus (e.g. Leica, Zeiss, Akoya or similar)
Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in an area of biological science.
At least 2+ year(s) of experience in histotechnology (routine histology skills) is a plus.
Strong verbal and written communication, ability to perform within tight timelines and in a detail-oriented manner, teamwork and interpersonal skills are required.
Strong IT skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) are required.
