Pay: $80000 - 90000 / year
Position Summary:
As the Pastry Sous Chef, you will work alongside our Executive Chef to create and execute an exceptional dessert program that delights our guests. You'll lead the pastry team in crafting artisanal desserts, baked goods, and other sweet creations, ensuring quality, consistency, and innovation. This position offers elevated opportunities for growth and advancement.
Job Duties:
- Assist the Executive Chef in daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
- Assist in developing creative and seasonal pastry menus aligned with the restaurant's vision.
- Supervise and mentor the pastry team, fostering growth and maintaining a positive work environment.
- Ensure all pastries and desserts meet the highest standards of quality, taste, and presentation.
- Oversee daily operations of the pastry kitchen, including inventory, purchasing, and cost control.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant kitchen in accordance with health and safety standards.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to support events, specials, and new menu rollouts.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Performs additional responsibilities as requested by the Chef.
Education/ Experience/ Skills:
- Previous experience as a Pastry Sous Chef or in a similar role in a high-volume, upscale dining environment.
- Strong knowledge of baking techniques, dessert preparation, and menu planning.
- Creativity and passion for crafting unique, memorable desserts.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- A degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- In-depth knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Creative and passionate about food, with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical Demands:
- Physical demands include hot temperatures, prolonged walking and/or standing along with the occasional exertion of up to 45lbs of force.
