Description
This position requires the individual to perform a broad range of activities and duties needing full range of motion, including manual and finger dexterity and hand and eye coordination. The position requires correct vision; speech and hearing of normal range, or special accommodations will be made of sufficient nature for completion of assigned tasks. Requires seated work at a desk, including use of a computer, and the ability to lift 30 pounds, bend, stand, and walk for extended periods of time. The position also requires the ability to drive and occasionally requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES- Communicate and promote the YMCA mission, goals and objectives to employees, volunteers and the community at large.
- Open party room for set up 30 minutes before scheduled time.
- Supervise party participants for the scheduled time of the party.
- Work with the party contact to ensure tables, chairs and clean trash cans are available and room is set up accordingly.
- Communicate with supervisor any concerns and supply needs.
- Help with special events as assigned by supervisor.
- Party host will coordinate with lifeguard to ensure pool party participants receive safety talks.
- Party host will ensure safety talk is completed for climbing tree, kid's gym and program areas.
- Responsible for cleanup, chair and table breakdown, and storing equipment safely.
- Ensure safety of participants, spectators, and coaches.
- Promote a safe and positive atmosphere during scheduled working hours.
- Identifies and resolves problem areas to ensure member satisfaction.
- Ensure payment has been received and information concerning the party or event has been communicated.
- Ensure that all areas are clean and safe at all times.
- Ensure liability waiver and consent are completely filled out and properly filed.
- Provide a quality experience for children and families to increase the recruitment and retention of YMCA members.
- Communicate positively with parents before, during and after the party.
- Responsible for any other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator.
- Willingness to carry out the mission of the YMCA and its programs.
- Knowledge of generally accepted YMCA programs and YMCA management practices and principles.
- Proven ability to provide leadership to staff and volunteers associated with the YMCA.
- Ability to see that all business and safety records and procedures set up by the corporation are completed accurately within the defined time schedule.
- Possess effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain all personal certifications needed to serve in this position.
- Ability to interpret as well as adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to work independently and utilize initiative.
- Ability to be organized and to meet deadlines.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Work to continue personal competency through education, outside literature, seminars, etc.
- High School Education.
- Experience in customer service field preferred.
- CPR Certification.
- Able to work as a team leader and builder/member.
- Has a leadership presence in all situations.
