As part of the continued growth and innovation of our Health and Safety service offering, ERM has an opportunity for an experienced Health and Safety leader to join our global consulting firm as a Director/Partner in the San Francisco Bay Area, and become a true owner and shareholder in a business with Sustainability at its heart. ERM’s HEALTH AND SAFETY SERVICES OVERVIEW:
Health and Safety performance is a continuing source of risk to business, and an increasing focus of business leadership. Companies are spending as much as 15% to 20% of operating expenditures on Health and Safety process and programs, but are seeing only a fraction of this impacting behaviors on the front-line, and therefore Health and Safety performance. ERM partners with our clients to deliver reductions in risk and sustained improvements in Health and Safety performance, as well as extract much greater value from their existing Health and Safety programs, processes and tools.
ERM takes a distinctive approach to Health and Safety - one focused across the entirety of our client's operational lifecycle. For major capital projects as an example, ERM works with clients to co-design and operationalize a robust Health and Safety and risk management business process throughout the design, construction, commissioning, and start-up phases. For existing facilities, ERM partners with clients to reduce accidents by unlocking untapped potential in leadership, culture, Health and Safety programs, and processes. We help many of our clients build the business “Case for Change” through a diagnostic process to identify opportunities to add value through managing enterprise-wide risks. ERM is uniquely positioned through our leadership in the ESG space to help our clients link Health and Safety efforts to ESG efforts such as Safety and Healthy Workplaces, Supply Chains and Safety renewable energy sources. ERM's approaches also focus on leadership performance and behaviors - practical actions and high-impact training to motivate and equip corporate, site-based, and front-line leaders to breathe life into established programs and processes.

ROLE PROFILE:
- Primary focus on client account development, sales, and delivery of the full spectrum of ERM’s consulting services to deliver strategic value to our clients in the technology, pharmaceutical, oil and gas, and power sectors. In particular, play a key role in growing ERM’s Environmental, Health, Health and Safety & Risk Compliance services across its broad portfolio of service offerings, including:
- EHS compliance and social auditing
- Health and Safety leadership training
- Health and Safety compliance programs, including Health and Safety performance transformation program development and deployment
- EHS and social compliance and risk management systems development and deployment, including fit-for-purpose management processes and technical standards for Health and Safety critical tasks
- High-impact training in EHS and social fields, including competency assessment and training programs for behavioral change
- Business continuity planning
- Human factors engineering to enhance Health and Safety operability
- Product compliance and life cycle management
- Corporate sustainability reporting
- Information management systems
- Actively develop commercial strategies to pursue and win new business opportunities that result in significant revenue growth with target clients aligned with ERM’s global strategy.
- Provide business value selling at the top levels of client organizations, raising the profile of ERM’s capabilities within key client organizations, to identify and shape clients’ needs for ERM services.
- Develop new client relationships and expand existing relationships by delivering strategic consulting advice, excellent value, and quality service.
- Maintain pulse on industry business cycles and prioritize sales efforts toward high-potential, top opportunities.
- Manage capture efforts utilizing technical understanding to develop proposals, including written content, pricing, presentations, and contracting.
- Manage projects across a range of areas of Health and Safety, including compliance, audit, management systems, Health and Safety culture, leadership development, training and risk management. Lead consulting engagements to achieve performance improvements and long-term change.
- Lead a team of consultants (including line management and development) and deliver business results for the team. Identify emerging talent and work with them to reach their full potential; ensure rising stars are nurtured, developed and given new areas of responsibility.
- Contribute to the growth and development of ERM’s global Health and Safety service initiative and actively collaborate with colleagues across the globe. Drive innovation within the business to stay ahead of client needs and to differentiate ERM in the market.
- Work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment to build ERM’s global business, as well as to lead client and technical teams.
- Meet business financial targets, overall project budget and schedule, client satisfaction/expectations, and internal and contract requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors’ or Master’s degree in Health and Safety, human factors, learning and development, engineering, science, or related discipline.
- 15+ years’ progressive Health and Safety management and leadership experience, including in a consulting environment and working substantially with industrial clients.
- Passionate about Health and Safety performance improvement and possess substantial experience in developing and delivering world-class EHS program solutions.
- In-depth understanding of the technology and/or power sectors, especially with strong client base in the Bay Area. Experience in oil and gas, chemical, mining, and/or manufacturing sectors also of interest.
- Business acumen to understand business risk and challenges, and recognize corporate opportunities.
- Demonstrable track record in delivering multimillion dollar sales results annually, including successfully winning large and strategic projects.
- Offer recognized technical expertise and an established reputation in the local marketplace.
- Certification in field; CSP, CIH, CHMM, or similar registration desired.
For the Partner, Safety Risk Services (Partner Level) position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $155,000 – $220,000. An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where employee’s fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above. This job is also eligible for bonus pay.
