About the Job
Part-Time Weekend Schedule:
- Saturdays and Sundays, 8-hour shifts (7:00am - 3:30pm).
- Occasional weekday shifts may be required to support chef coverage needs.
- Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week (9:00am - 5:30pm).
- Prepare meals for approximately 50 residents and staff (breakfast, lunch, dinner).
- Prepare modified diet items as needed.
- Maintain clean and sanitary work areas, equipment, and dining area.
- Assist in daily clean-up and weekly deep cleaning activities.
- Collaborate with Director and Week Chef to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
- Create and submit weekly inventory reports.
- Assist in managing kitchen budgets and minimizing waste.
- Participate in menu planning to ensure nutritious and appealing meals.
- Monitor food quality, presentation, and taste.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, health codes, and organizational policies.
- Supervise and guide kitchen staff.
- Manage time effectively to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Manage kitchen inventory, tracking stock levels and identifying areas for improvement.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and manage grocery accounts.
- 2+ years of experience in food service or related field.
- Must possess valid culinary or food safety certifications (e.g., CFPP, CFSM, CEC, CC, ServSafe).
- Knowledge of nutrition, food safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Physical/Mental Requirements:
- Ability to maintain a clear, understandable speaking voice.
- Accurate and clear vision and hearing.
- Ability to remain standing for extended periods.
- Sufficient digital manipulation skills to utilize a computer keyboard.
- Ability to function effectively in a busy working environment.
