Responsibilities
The Coordinator - Aquatics is responsible for the oversight and management of the routine aquatic operation of multiple pools, splash pad, and aquatic staff. The Coordinator will lead the management of the pool systems and chemicals and support the safe operation of all water based facilities.
This position will work on-site at our Mylan Park, West Virginia client location.
The Aquatic Center includes a fully accessible 90,000 sq. ft. facility, featuring a zero-depth-entry six-lane community pool with water features and slides, an Olympic-sized competition swimming pool with a separate diving (spring and platform) pool, an outdoor splash pad, dynamic fitness room, outdoor track and so much more. The Aquatic Center has become a local hub of sports tourism by hosting elite-level regional and national events.
Core Responsibilities:
- Sets custodial standards, preventative maintenance schedule, and monitors water chemistry; inventories and reorders supplies as needed
- Operates and maintains each pool and the corresponding systems, filters, pumps and other mechanical equipment
- Coordinates large repairs and specialized service with Building Maintenance Manager
- Performs inspections and maintenance for the water filtration & sanitation systems
- Monitors pool activity schedules and usage; suggests updates or changes
- Books and coordinates birthday party rentals
- Coordinates and shares responsibility of professional staff coverage for aquatic center
- Oversee policies and procedures development for all areas of responsibility
- Assist with safety trainings, mock emergencies and skill audits; manage staff certification records
- Assists with monitoring and forecasting budgets
- Prepares and delivers required and requested reports and data to the client and CENTERS central office
Staff Supervision
- Hires and supervises lifeguards
- Coordinates monthly in-service training for aquatic staff
- Schedules staff to ensure adequate coverage during hours of operation, to maintain safety and support activity schedules
- Responsible for approving timecards and preparing necessary documents/reports in preparation for payroll
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree or 4 or more years of work experience
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification (or willing to obtain)
- Current American Red Cross CPR/AED/FA Instructor certification (or willing to obtain)
- Current CPO/AFO certification (or willing to obtain)
- Current LGI & WSI certifications (or willing to obtain)
- Experience with maintenance and operation of pools
- Previous staff management experience
- Experience with water attractions maintenance (preferred)
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to collaborate with multiple staff to achieve success
- Ability to assess and take prompt action on response to incidents

- Diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for pool mechanical and operation equipment
- Ability to improve performance and effectiveness of areas of responsibility through regular assessment

- Must be able to discuss, converse with, and exchange accurate information with patrons, staff, stakeholders, etc.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
