About the Job
Miami Dade College, New World School of the Arts is now accepting applications for the Part-Time Technical Assistant - Visual Arts. The Part-Time Technical Assistant, Visual Arts performs general maintenance and support of visual arts studios, wood shop, print shop and printing facilities of the Visual Arts division. The position requires technical responsibility and maintenance of the visual arts facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains the division's arts studios, wood shop, print shop and printing facilities to ensure safe and efficient operations on a day-to-day basis
- Identifies, plans, and recommends future improvements and acquisitions including soliciting bids, purchasing, and scheduling work in conjunction with the Facilities Manager
- Assists the Dean with the acquisitions of tools, equipment, furnishings, and supplies
- Delivers workshops in support to classes in the visual arts division
- Prepares materials and conducts demonstrations of methods and techniques to students as requested by faculty
- Assists with the daily operation of the equipment loan office: monitors inventory, inspects and repairs equipment
- Ensures compliance with EH&S standards for the safe and proper handling, labeling, storage, and recycling/disposal of materials
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Associate of Arts degree from a regionally accredited institution in Art, Art History, Art Administration, or related field and two (2) years of experience in an art related job; or combination of education, training, and related experience.
