The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Store Clerk/Sorting Room Worker at the Azalea Family Store for the Coastal Alabama Area Command.
Job Summary
Assists store customers in donating, selecting, and purchasing store items. Operates and maintains a cash register. Receives, sorts, prices and prepares donated items for display in the store. Determines suitability and pricing of items based on established standards. Maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of the store displays and assists in maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of the warehouse area
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of effective customer service techniques.
- Ability to perform routine mathematical computations, count change and operate a cash register.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
- Ability to perform frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. and experience working in a retail store preferred.
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is acceptable.

None.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Ability to perform frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting. Ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull light (less than 25 pounds) materials, supplies and equipment. Work is performed in a normal store environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather, but where internal temperatures can be high with occasional discomforts associated with dust, noise, crowds, chemical odors and the like.
