Part-time Security Officer
Chatham University has an immediate opening for a Part-time Security Officer in the University's Public Safety department.
Security Officers within the Department of Public Safety are unarmed and under the direct supervision of the Chief of Police. Uniforms and a yearly uniform allowance will be provided. Candidates must pass an extensive background investigation, drug and alcohol random testing (to include reasonable suspicion and post-accident).

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct vigilant, all-weather, foot and mobile patrols of all university facilities for suspicious activity, criminal activity, and hazardous conditions.
- Maintain high visibility to serve as a deterrent to criminal acts and protect the life safety of those on campus.
- Respond to emergencies by assessing the situation, employing tact, diplomacy, and individual judgment to remedy and/or maintain control.
- Complete necessary administrative forms, reports, and logs related to incidents and activities.
- Provide crowd control and/or traffic control during scheduled activities or during emergency situations as necessary.
- Attend internal and/or external training courses, classes, and seminars to further develop skills and knowledge.
- Communicate with community members and first responder agencies to address ongoing events/incidents and meet university needs, to include gathering pertinent information from participants and/or witnesses.
- Enforce university policies on access control, smoking, and parking, to include issuing university citations when necessary.
Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent combination of training and experience required
- Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License
- Ability to physically stand or walk for the entirety of assigned shift and lift 50 lbs.
- Act 235 or prior security experience (preferred)Certification in emergency first aid, CPR, and AED (preferred)
Salary:
This position will be filled at the hourly rate of $21.30.
