Part Time Route Driver - Spee-Dee Delivery Service

About the Job
Spee-Dee Delivery is looking for a self-motivated and customer service orientated individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. As a Route Driver you would be a company representative making deliveries and picking up freight.
Hours and Wages:
- 1st shift, 2-3 days per week
- 8-10 hours per day
- Starting wage: $18.00-$21.00 per hour based on experience
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Delivers and picks up freight in a timely manner from customers and shippers
- Complies with all company safety policies and DOT policies
- Inspects and report any mechanical problems with the vehicle
- Loads the truck in an organized manner to effectively use space and prevent damage to packages
- Collects payments for certain packages delivered
- Verifies the content of pickups on shipping papers
- Notifies management of any problems or discrepancies
- Maintains professional personal appearance as well as cleanliness of vehicle
- Assists other drivers and operations personnel with other duties, as needed
Experience and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Must be 21 years of age
- Ability to drive a manual transmission
- Must possess a valid driver's license and have a good driving record
- Must possess good customer service and organizational skills
- Must be able to work independently and make quick decisions
- Must be able to pass a DOT physical and lift up to 100 pounds occasionally and 50lbs repetitively. Some overhead lifting is required
- Ability to work up to a 10-hour shift
- Ability to work with all types of freight which include, but are not limited to: hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals
- Full range of motion with no limits on grasping, standing, squatting, stair climbing, walking, etc
- Work environment requires time spent outdoors in changing weather elements as well as in a vehicle
- Work may involve other hazards pertaining to road conditions, vehicle operation and package content
