Part-Time Night Circulation Supervisor LB9970 - Stetson University

The Night Circulation Supervisor supports Stetson University by providing library circulation services, supervising library student employees, and providing oversight of the library building during the late evening. When classes are in session, the schedule for this on-site position is Sunday through Thursday, 6:30 p.m. to 12 midnight and in the summer, Sunday through Thursday, 2:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Serving as a member of the duPont-Ball Library Circulation Department, the Night Circulation Supervisor will provide circulation services to members of the Stetson community, supervise and train library student employees, and work collaboratively with co-workers to close the building.In alignment with Stetson’s Strategic Priorities, the Night Circulation Supervisor will support student success by providing access to library materials, technology, and spaces while working in an inclusive library environment. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervise the Circulation Department in the evenings and close the library at 12:00 a.m. (8:00 p.m. during summer)
• Supervise and train circulation student assistants in the policies and procedures of the department
• Handle numerous circulation-related transactions, including checking out, checking in, and renewing library materials as well as creating and editing user records
• Employ special procedures for AV/tech equipment and circulating technology, including erasing data, recharging devices, ensuring that contents are included when items are checked in and out, and reporting broken equipment
• Answer questions from library patrons about library policies and procedures; answer basic reference questions and refer more complicated queries to the on-call librarian
• Assist patrons with the use of computers, printers, copier, and scanner; troubleshoot routine problems encountered by patrons in their use of library equipment
• Work collaboratively with other night staff members and student staff and communicate effectively with the Director of Public Services and staff on daytime shifts as necessary
• Assist with special shelving and inventory projects in the circulating collection as necessary
• Perform other site and position specific functions as assigned

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, goal- and task-oriented
• Experience (preferred) in mentoring and managing a diverse student employee population
• Experience (preferred) using databases, such as WorldShare Management System (WMS) or other integrated library systems and using productivity software such as Microsoft Office
• Experience supervising work-study students
• Ability to occasionally cover other shifts and to work limited additional hours as mutually agreed upon by the employee and the supervisor

Work Environment: The duPont-Ball Library is a typical academic library with spaces for collaboration and for quiet study. Noise levels are at a medium level on the main floor where collaborative study is encouraged. The perimeter areas in the building are more conducive to independent quiet study. The library’s temperature can be chilly at various times of the year.
