Utah Valley Pediatrics is looking to hire a Part Time Medical Assistant in our Spanish Fork, Mapleton, and Springville offices!
WORK SCHEDULE FOR A MEDICAL ASSISTANT
This position will work part-time hours, with the days varying, Mon-Fri. Hours for the shifts will be 8:00 AM-5:00 PM. Final schedule determined by office manager based on need.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MEDICAL ASSISTANT
In this healthcare position, you are crucial to the care that is administered to our patients. Your main responsibilities include bringing patients to exam rooms and helping doctors with tasks such as charting, giving injections, and taking vital signs. While offering exceptional service with every patient interaction, you prepare and administer medications, immunizations, and other treatments as directed. You are always up-to-date on relevant medical knowledge and are able to educate patients on any procedures, medications, or needed changes to their diets.
You also help with keeping exam rooms well-stocked and clean as well as sterilizing instruments. General office duties such as answering phone calls and scheduling appointments are tasks that come easy to you due to your impressive communication skills. You assist with authorizing prescriptions and providing the correct information to pharmacies. Maintaining the strictest confidentiality is crucial, and you are always careful when communicating patient information. You find great satisfaction in facilitating quality care for patients, and this is why you love working in healthcare!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A MEDICAL ASSISTANT
- Graduated from an accredited MA program
- Experience as a medical assistant
- Experience in pediatrics or family medicine is highly preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish/English a plus!
- CPR certification
- Knowledge about first-aid standards
- Knowledge about HIPAA, OSHA, and Red Flag rules as they apply to healthcare
- Knowledge about injuries, illnesses, and diseases, including symptoms, treatments, drug properties, and drug interactions as well as preventive healthcare measures
- Knowledge about immunizations as well as schedules for children and adolescents
- Proficiency with medical terminology
- Basic computer skills such as Microsoft Office and email
- Knowledge about clerical duties such as faxing, scanning, and managing records
- Ability to stay up-to-date on current procedures and policies while applying that knowledge to your job
- Exceptional customer service skills
