About the Job
The City of Georgetown is now accepting Part Time Firefighter/EMT.
Position Overview:
This position is a temporary part time position. Firefighters will respond to fire alarms and other emergency calls as required. Performs the necessary functions and operations to protect the lives and property of those efficiently and effectively in need of assistance. Provides public education on fire safety. Works according to set procedures under close supervision. Reports to the Fire Lieutenant.
Hourly rate $14.00 an hour.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent supplemented by a minimum of two (2) years' experience in the firefighting field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Valid Firefighter I and Firefighter II certifications.
- Valid South Carolina Driver's License.
- EVDT, Pump Ops I, Pump Ops II, and Aerial Ops certifications.
- Hazmat Technician, ICS 100/200/700/800.
- Valid SC EMT Certification
Physical Requirements:
Must be physically able to operate a variety of heavy machines and equipment. Must be able to exert up to five pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently. Must be able to push, stoop, lift, pull, reach, kneel, climb, crouch, carry, or otherwise move objects. Work involves walking or standing for periods of time. Must be able to lift/carry weights of up to 80 pounds.
MENTAL DEMANDS:
Frequently requires time pressures, frequent change of tasks, performing multiple tasks simultaneously, irregular schedule/overtime, and working closely with others as part of a team. Occasionally requires tedious or exacting work and noisy/distracting environment.
