Part-Time Custodial and Building Maintenance Worker - The City of Independence Ohio

Position Summary:
The primary responsibility of the City of Independence Custodial/Building Maintenance staff is to perform routine maintenance and cleaning of all Recreation Department facilities, including buildings, locker rooms and bathrooms.
The ideal candidate will be open to a variety of assignments, tasks, hours and locations This is a year round position which may require you to work evenings and weekends on occasion.
Nights and Weekends/ Occasional special events held by the city with up to 28 hours per week.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- On-going custodial maintenance of assigned recreation buildings, facilities and park areas. Includes restroom maintenance; trash disposal; policing of park areas; continued sanitizing of common areas.
- Familiarity of custodial duties, equipment and supplies. Restocking paper products and maintenance supplies when needed.
- Ability to keep daily record of work completed and stay in direct contact with co-workers and supervisors throughout the shift
- Makes needed minor repairs to city equipment and facilities as needed
- Set up tables, chairs, bleachers and various equipment for events and facility rentals
- Maintain a working knowledge of all general and departmental specific safety rules
- Able to cross-train to other department positions as needed
- Interact/respond to supervisor or resident/guest requests as needed

- This position requires use of interpersonal skills in adapting to the environment and needs of the City Recreation Department and other departments as needed
- Must be able to work with and respect City equipment and supplies
- Willingness to properly utilize safety protective equipment and safety standards is essential

- Able to handle working in a fast-paced environment
- Friendly demeanor and positive attitude
- Must pass a drug test and background check
- Ability to physically stand, bend, squat and lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in a mixture of weather conditions and stand on your feet for extended periods of time
- Overtime may be earned for time worked beyond 4o hours in one work week. Average hours worked annually not to exceed 28 hours in a week. Days, Hours & Additional Employment Details:

Education:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent (Preferred)
- Must hold and maintain a valid Ohio Drivers License .
