Part-Time Contract Tax Analyst
Vaco is conducting a confidential search on behalf of a leading organization for a part-time Tax Analyst for a highly esteemed educational institution in Boston.
The role will start out as a part time position of 20 hours per week with real potential to advance to a full-time position as a Tax Supervisor or Tax Analyst depending on work experience, education, and performance on the job.
The team is looking for an individual to prepare Form 990 and 990-T to compile and analyze data for the Higher-Ed Institution from the SAP accountancy system.
Desired employment duration: approx. 16 weeks (late July - early November) opportunity to convert to FTE after contract period.
PT: 20 hrs/week (Flexible)
Salary: up to $33/hr
Location: Boston, Preference for in-person, but a hybrid working arrangement may be available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the preparation of federal, state, and international tax filings by compiling and analyzing reports from the accounting system.
- Assist in the preparation of various tax forms, including those involving compilation and analysis of organizational data and information gathering from multiple departments.
- Prepare work papers to support a range of tax filings, such as excise tax, sales & meals tax, among others.
- Conduct research on various federal, state, and international tax issues.
- Coordinate with external parties for tax advisory and tax preparation services as necessary.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key internal departments.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- State and Sales Tax Experience is a must-have
- Experience in the non-profit industry or higher education sector is a nice-to-have.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
- 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably with public accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, including complex formulas for data analysis.
- Ability to analyze data, draw relevant conclusions, and suggest appropriate actions to management.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and quality of work output.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and intellectually curious.
- Experience with ERP systems and/or SAP is preferred.
