Lincoln Families is partnering with Alameda County’s Black Infant Health (BIH) program which aims to empower pregnant and mothering Black women to make healthy choices for themselves and their children as well as build a community that stands up against the injustices towards African-American women and their birthing experiences. The BIH program aims to help reduce stress, build resilience, promote healthy behaviors, and increase social support. This position supports Alameda County BIH’s Program Area 1, covering families who reside in West Oakland, Emeryville, North Oakland and South Berkeley.
POSITION SUMMARY: With dual reporting to the Community-Based Services (CBS) Clinical Director and the Associate Director of Community-Based Grant Programs, the BIH Clinical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the execution of the BIH program—specifically supervising and coaching Lincoln’s BIH team to ensure program fidelity and quality service provision. This includes clinical supervision of the BIH Clinician and Enhanced Care Management (ECM) billing as well as overall leadership, direction, and accountability for all program staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist the Associate Director with hiring, supervising and evaluating clinicians and other program staff.
- Attend all mandatory BIH onboarding and ongoing professional development trainings.
- Participate in and directly observe clinical and case management delivery of group sessions and 1:1 services through regular and frequent interface with staff.
- Provide clinical supervision for clinicians and direct service staff as assigned, including weekly individual and group supervision meetings, ensuring adherence to clinical documentation protocols and providing crisis support when needed.
- Perform direct service and necessary documentation with clients as needed.
- Individually provide crisis intervention when needed to children and families in collaboration with the treatment team.
- Ensure supervisee compliance with agency and program policies, procedures and expectations.
- Responsible for reviewing and approving clinical documentation including mental health notes, assessments, and treatment plans.
- Assist the Clinical Director with coordination of exterior and internal utilization reviews related to chart compliance, quality and appropriateness of clinical and case management services.
- Develop and maintain Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) processes for clinical and case management functions and services.
- Assist in designing and implementing training programs for staff. This includes, but is not limited to, researching and developing creative trainings with experts from the community as well as developing, organizing and presenting a comprehensive orientation for program-specific on-boarding.
- Requires occasional driving to various locations across Alameda County. (Clinical Supervisor must have valid CA driver license, personal automobile insurance and satisfactory driving record.)
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Lived understanding of African American culture and history, and general working knowledge of family systems, community trauma, and community organizing or advocacy. Demonstrated awareness of, sensitivity to, and competence in dealing with cultural and socioeconomic diversity of client population with proven success working with people with different perspectives and backgrounds. Genuine interest and passion for serving African American families, working within a team approach, and building resources. Demonstrated knowledge of provider systems, Women’s health (prenatal and postpartum mental health), life course perspective, and the impact of psychosocial, cultural, and economic factors on health. Knowledge of trauma informed and culturally responsive interventions with African American women.
Must have ability to work collaboratively with members of inter-disciplinary teams, provide ongoing clinical consultation to assigned staff, seek out internal consultative resources as appropriate, and exhibit autonomous decision-making. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) with proven ability for complex problem-solving, planning, and conflict resolution. Ability to hold clinical needs of the BIH team and exhibit sound judgment that is aligned with Lincoln’s principles of care and values. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
- LCSW or LMFT who has been licensed in California for at least 2 years is required
- Current license in good standing with BBS or BOP
- At least 4 total years of clinical experience is required
- Supervisory experience highly desirable
- Experience with vulnerable youth preferred
- Specific experience in prenatal and postpartum mental health highly desirable
- Experience working in an evidence-based model is preferred
- Current or prior experience/familiarity as an Oakland or Berkeley resident a plus
- Experience with Medi-Cal documents and requirements required
- Must meet eligibility requirements to bill for Medi-Cal services.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft programs and Google suite
