About the Job
Extra Storage is looking to hire a Part-Time Assistant Manager for our facilities located in Costa Mesa and Irvine.
JOB DUTIES:
- Our assistant managers help with different components of the operation, including: leasing storage & parking, helping maintain the property, supervising on-site projects, communicating with home office team, and cultivating positive relationships with tenants and vendors.
- Provide outstanding customer service including assessing and resolving customer problems and professionally handling telephone and walk-in inquiries
- General management of a self-storage rental office including (but not limited to) opening and closing the office on time each day, keeping and balancing petty cash, making daily bank deposits and preparing daily, weekly, and monthly reports as needed by the office
- Keeping the facility rented at optimum levels by effectively utilizing advertising, promotional and customer relation skills as approved by management
- Maintaining all tenant documentation in a neat and orderly manner using company tools and methods
- Controlling delinquencies through telephone, email contact and letters on a scheduled basis including sending out monthly invoices and legal notices
- Cleaning empty space(s), hallways, and grounds as needed. Cleaning office and restrooms daily. Taking pride in the complete appearance of the property by making regular assessment of the conditions and working together to resolve maintenance and cleaning needs
- Maintains a neat, clean, safe and secure facility including minor maintenance and daily lock checks as well as visual inspection daily
- Assist in preparing units for auction, vacate as prescribed by law and according to company policies & procedures.
- Effectively communicate with management and fellow associates
SCHEDULE:
- Part Time position, 24-32 hours per week.
- Available from 9 AM - 6 PM daily. However, the shifts will vary. Standard shifts are usually 8 hours, and will typically fall within these hours.
COMPENSATION:
- $17/hour (negotiable)
- Quarterly Bonuses

- All mileage driven to work sites will be reimbursed at the IRS rate.
EXPERIENCE / SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5 years of customer service
- 3 years of supervisory experience
- Self-Storage experience is preferred
- Basic computer operation required. Candidate must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Experience using a self-storage software application is preferred but not required
- Understanding of an automated gate system is preferred but not required
- Effective communicator
- Retail sales
- Cash-handling
- General office skills
- Organizational skills
- Ability to pay close attention to detail
- Ability to read and write in English required
- Applicants must have a valid CA Driver License & proof of current auto insurance
- Reliable transportation
- High School Diploma Required
- Associate's Degree/ Bachelor's Degree Preferred
- Willingness to travel, 25% (Required)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Sitting for approx. 6 hours, light to heavy lifting 40 lbs.
