Amsted Rail has an immediate opening for a Part Time Accounting Assistant at its operation in Granite City, Illinois.

The Part Time Accounting Assistant performs various duties to support the accounting department and provide administrative support for all departments.
Serve as petty cash administrator who is responsible for handling replenishments to and disbursements from account, establishes and maintains controls for the fund, as well as reconciles the petty cash general ledger account.
Assist the Accounting department with month-end close by inputting various journal entries for general accounting and ensures SOX controls are in place with regards to journal entries and account reconciliations. This includes reviewing monthly journal entries for proper documentation and approvals. Also responsible for the publication and distribution of the monthly operating book that is sent out to management.
Manage document storage and dispose of documents past company retention policy requirements.
Assist the Accounting department with preparation of assigned balance sheet account reconciliations monthly.
Perform additional tasks and ad-hoc projects as needed.
Requirements:
- B.S. in Accounting/Finance or Accounting Student preferred
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize projects
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Friendly, energetic, positive attitude
- Self-starter

Education
Preferred- Bachelors or better in Finance
