About the Job
The County of Riverside seeks candidates to fill positions throughout Riverside County. A list of eligible candidates will be established to fill current and future vacancies.
The Riverside County Regional Park and Open-Space District has an opportunity for a Park Maintenance Worker who will assist at Open-Space reserves across Riverside County. Please note that this position does not assist at regional park grounds.
The selected candidate will conduct ecological restoration and maintenance work such as constructing, installing, and repairing of fences and gates (sometimes in remote locations); string trimming, tractor mowing, hand removing invasive plants, applying herbicide for weed abatement and habitat restoration (sometimes in remote locations); assisting in installation and long-term maintenance of restoration projects; removing trash, dumps, and conducting homeless encampment cleanups; tractor grading dirt roads; other semi-skilled maintenance work.
Additionally, the Park Maintenance Worker will be working with other agencies for Code, OHV, and illegal dumping enforcement; providing assistance in emergency situations; answering public inquiries and complaints concerning reserve operations and maintenance.
Competitive candidates will have experience with inspecting, performing preventive maintenance and repair of light vehicles; knowledge of herbicide and pesticide (QAL or QAC) and proficiency with welding and/or installing fences. Experience operating tractors, skid steers or similar equipment is highly desired.
While this position only requires a California Driver's License - Class C, candidates with a California Driver's License - Class A are highly desired to operate heavy equipment. Employee will work weekends and holidays and will regularly work alone.
