Since its founding in 2005 as a 501c3 nonprofit organization, Manhattan Charter School (MCS) has consistently achieved high levels of success. In 2012, MCS opened Manhattan Charter School 2 (MCS2), a replication of MCS located a few blocks away, expanding on the groundwork laid by MCS and bringing high levels of academic achievement to more students.

Parent and Attendance Coordinator
The Parent and Attendance Coordinator of Manhattan Charter School helps maintain the MCS main office by greeting visitors, answering phone calls, and supporting the MCS Principal to ensure smooth running of the school's operations.
Specific Responsibilities
- Contribute to the improvement of student learning by assisting in the enrichment of the student experience through parental involvement
- Establish internal/external communication and maintain parent relations under the direction of the Principal
- Enhance the school culture and discipline code of Manhattan Charter School
- Performs other duties, as deemed appropriate, by the Principal
Main Office Management
- Operate a clean, welcoming and efficient main office answer phones, and welcome visitors
- Respond to inquiries from students, parents, and staff in a timely manner
- With the Administrative Assistant, maintain completed student records and student filing system
Attendance tracking and database management
- Maintain accurate database of students, families
- Act as point person for ATS
- Provide reports from ATS database upon request
- Work with Principal to monitor attendance and communicate with families about tardiness and absences
Student Meals and Transportation
- Track metro cards distribution
- Act as liaison for Office of SchoolFood and Office of Pupil Transportation
Families
- Promote parent involvement
- Uphold Parent Handbook and answer questions from families regarding Handbook
- Act as primary staff liaison to Family Association and support Family Association initiatives and events
- Track and report parent satisfaction – surveys, parent interviews
- Assist in coordinating Parent/Teacher conferencing – scheduling and tracking appointments
- Act as liaison between school nurse, families, and Principal regarding health incidents, allergies, and medication. Track health incidents
- Assist and support families in crisis at the direction of the Principal
Students
- Enforce dress code and discipline code
- Participate in arrival and dismissal
- Responsible for medical alert duty
- Acquire train passes
Student Recruitment and Enrollment
- Assist with student recruitment
- Conduct enrollment and discharge meetings with parents
Hours are 7:30 am-4:30 pm Monday through Friday.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bilingual/multilingual in English and Mandarin/Cantonese and/or Spanish.
- Have experience working in school setting and with children.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills that are effective with a variety of stakeholders (parents, students, teachers, community members).
- Have experience working in a high-demand environment, managing multiple projects, working with multiple software programs.
- Have a Bachelor's degree (exceptional candidates without a Bachelor's degree may be considered).
Compensation
Salary Range: $50,000 – 70,000
Additionally a competitive compensation package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, bonuses based on school-wide goals and individual student performance and growth, and a 403B retirement plan with 4% match.
