Position Information Position Title Paraprofessional Position Number 500063 Salary Range $20,800.00 Position Type Unclassified Staff Department Information Ending Effective Date of Temporary Employment Department Little Colonel's Academy Job Duties Responsibility / Duty * Assists in implementing the daily program under the direction of the Lead Teacher -Assists in conducting developmentally appropriate activities for children in a safe environment -Assists in maintaining a clean and orderly physical environment -Assists in conducting assessments on children's growth and development -Attends and actively contributes to staff planning and evaluation meetings and professional meetings -Appropriately shares information with other staff members -Assists the Lead Teacher in any appropriate way -Maintains confidentiality of children, parents, and fellow staff members -Knows and complies with the policies and procedures set forth in the staff handbook and any additional verbal directives -Coordinates other projects as directed by the Lead Teacher, Directors, and Executive Director -Adheres to physical demands requiring frequent lifting, carrying, transferring, of objects of a considerable weight -Perform duties related to and in support of the educational process and care and safety of LCA learners -Assists (individual/ small groups/ whole groups) of learners with educational activities as directed by the teacher or higher-level personnel. -Carries through with center-wide learner management, assessment procedures (organizing portfolios), center-wide and classroom curriculum strategies and techniques and any other instructional and developmental methods as directed by the teacher and/or higher-level personnel Percentage Of Time 80 Responsibility / Duty Professional Attitude and Conduct o Establishes and maintains appropriate respectful, harmonious relationship with administration, center and university staff and visitors o Seeks, shares, and respects ideas of others o Exhibits a caring POSITIVE attitude towards others o Participates in professional growth activities (seminars, conferences, workshops) as assigned - Communication o Understands and interprets written and verbal instructions from lead teacher/Director/Coordinator/Executive Director/Board Chairs/University Upper-Leadership o Assists lead teacher in lesson planning and compiling data and materials for learners as directed o Courteous and polite to parents/families and any other individual in the center o Reports any abuses of policy or negative situations through the appropriate chain of command (if direct supervisor cannot solve the issue brought before him/her, the Para is to proceed to the next higher-level supervisor). -Attendance and Punctuality o Reports to work at the assigned time o Attends work consistently o Contacts Operations Coordinator (and thereafter supervisors) when absent o Signs in/out as directed, follows lunch and break procedures, maintains Ratio and learner safety at all times -Safety o Completes task in a safe manner as prescribed by the NSU Safety Department o Maintains a neat and orderly work environment o Dresses appropriately for the job assigned/FOLLOWS UNIFORM CODE/displays logo (identification tag) at all times while on duty o Does not bring or direct learners to go into adult spaces within the center o Reports any observed unsafe conditions/ incidents/ injury/ damage/ suspicion of abuse or neglect and the like IMMEDIATELY to administration AND provides written documentation of observation -Accountable for ensuring that affirmative action, equal opportunity, and diversity are integrally tied to all actions and decisions in areas of responsibility. Percentage Of Time 20 Posting Detail Information Minimum Experience Required Preschool experience (or comparable child development continuing education coursework and/or professional development hours) Minimum Education Required High School diploma Minimum Licenses Required N/A Other Minimum Requirements N/A Test(s) Required NO Parapro assessment is required for this position Preferred Education Associates Degree (or 48 hours of accredited university hours) in any field OR CDA (Child Development Associates Certification) Preferred Experience 2 years in childcare Preferred Licenses N/A Other Preferred Requirements * Meets Highly Qualified Paraprofessional Criteria -CDA (Child Development Associate Credential) or completed two years of full-time study (48 semester credit hours) or earned an Associate's Degree from a state-approved or regionally accredited university OR substitute can be as follows: -three years of experience in a licensed early learning center or comparable school setting, subject to approval by the Licensing Division; plus 6 credit hours in child care, child development or early childhood education OR substitute can be as follows: -90 clock hours of training in child care, child care development or early childhood approved by the licensing division. Up to 3 credit hours or 45 clock hours may be in management/administration education.
