About the Job
SEEM Collaborative's Program for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students is looking for a paraprofessional to work with students in a preschool-kindergarten setting.
Qualifications: High school diploma, Associate or Bachelor's degree. Ability to work with special needs children in a preschool to kindergarten setting.
Reports to: Classroom teacher
Scope of duties include:
- Responsible to and functions under the direction of the classroom teacher.
- Work with an individual student, offering 1:1 support throughout the school day.
- Assist the teacher in the delivery of instruction and the implementation of the IEP goals and objectives.
- Provide coverage for the classroom teacher due to meetings, trainings, or other activities that require the teacher to be absent.
- Ensure the safety of the children in all environments.
- Supervise students throughout the school day, including at lunch and recess, at arrival and dismissal. Provide personal care support such as toileting and self care.
- Assist in facilitating the independence, social awareness, language and appropriate behavior.
- Must be able to lift, pull or push approximately 40 lbs and have the ability to move quickly from standing to floor and floor to standing.
- Be willing to participate in on-site sign language training.
Employment is contingent upon passing a SAFIS fingerprint and CORI screening.
