Paralegal Worker's Comp and Liability at Zurich

Zurich North America is currently hiring a Paralegal with experience in worker’s compensation and general liability to join Staff Legal in Overland Park, Kansas. This is a hybrid position.
 

Under the supervision of an attorney, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing the following legal support: legal and documentary research; draft legal pleadings, correspondence, and other documents of moderate complexity; prepare discovery requests and responses; and summarize depositions, medical and billing records.  Work will be in support of general liability and worker’s compensation cases and will support multiple remote attorneys in various jurisdictions. 

In this role you will be responsible for:

• Monitoring case schedules and filing deadlines
• Conducting interviews, summarizing depositions, medical records
• Assisting in trial preparation
• Responding to inquiries from and interacting with customers, clients, counsel, and witnesses
• Scheduling IME/AME/QME
• Review and summarize medical and billing records
• Evaluate wage statements
• Organizing and maintaining case files and documentation, electronically
• Contributing to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as needed
• Tracking billable hours

Basic Qualifications:

• Associate Degree in Law or Paralegal Studies and 4 or more years of experience in the Legal Support area
  OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree in Law or Paralegal Studies and 4 or more years of experience in the Legal Support area 
  AND
• Experience conducting electronic database research
• Experience drafting legal documents, correspondence, and/or pleadings
• Experience in litigation legal support

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience in Worker’s Compensation
• Litigation experience
• Insurance industry experience
• Strong Microsoft Office skills
• CORE Registered Paralegal (CRP)
• PACE Registered Paralegal (PRP)
• Certified Paralegal (CP)
• Certified Legal Assistant (CLA)
• Professional Paralegal (PP)
