Job Details
We are seeking an experienced paralegal with a strong background in personal injury law, particularly in the context of Florida statutes and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of hands-on experience in personal injury practice within the Florida legal landscape. Proficiency in bilingual communication, specifically in Haitian Creole or Spanish, is highly desirable for this role.
Responsibilities:
Case Management: Efficiently manage a caseload of personal injury matters from inception to resolution, ensuring all deadlines and requirements are met.
Legal Research: Conduct thorough legal research on Florida laws, regulations, and precedent relevant to personal injury cases, providing attorneys with comprehensive analyses and summaries.
Client Communication: Interact with clients on a regular basis, providing updates on case progress, explaining legal procedures, and answering inquiries in a professional and compassionate manner.
Document Preparation: Draft and prepare various legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and correspondence, adhering to established formats and guidelines.
Discovery Coordination: Assist with the coordination and management of the discovery process, including gathering, organizing, and reviewing documents and evidence.
Court Filings: Prepare and file legal documents with the appropriate courts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all procedural requirements.
Deposition and Trial Support: Assist attorneys in preparing for depositions and trials by organizing exhibits, coordinating witness schedules, and providing logistical support as needed.
Billing and Timekeeping: Maintain accurate records of billable hours and expenses, assisting with the preparation of client invoices and tracking payments.
Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to attorneys, such as scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and handling incoming calls.
Qualifications:
Minimum of three years of experience working as a paralegal in a personal injury practice area, with a strong understanding of Florida law and procedures.
Bilingual proficiency in Haitian Creole or Spanish is highly preferred.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and colleagues.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen attention to detail and the capacity to prioritize tasks effectively.
Proficiency in legal research using online databases and resources such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
Familiarity with case management software and other legal technology tools commonly used in the industry.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
Associate's degree or certification in paralegal studies or a related field is preferred.
