About the Job
The Litigation Paralegal will assist attorney(s) by providing clerical and research support services throughout all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, trials, arbitrations, and appeals.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist with document organization through various stages of litigation including discovery, depositions, motion practice, trials and appeals.
- Analyze client and case information to develop case chronologies.
- Assist with all phrases of discovery including: collect, organize, and review client documents; prepare document productions; redact document productions; review and organize incoming document productions; summarize document productions; draft privilege logs; prepare deposition preparation binders; manage pre- and post-deposition logistics; and summarize deposition testimony.
- Assist with motion practice including: prepare exhibits; draft affidavits; proofread; factual and legal research; and assist with preparation for oral argument.
- Cite check, bluebook, and Shepardize memoranda of law and briefs.
- Participate in case team meetings, creation of task lists and meeting minutes; follow up on action items and assigned tasks.
- Coordinate and participate in all tasks leading up to and during trial including: organize trial notebooks, draft trial exhibit and witness lists; prepare deposition designations; track admission of evidence at trial; and summarize trial testimony.
- Prepare records on appeal.
- Prepare for and attend depositions, hearings and trials: organize and file exhibits and all other supporting documents.
- Coordinate with vendors and stakeholders to ensure that all logistical and case management needs are met for trial.
- Review and monitor case dockets to identify, summarize, and circulate relevant pleadings and applications.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications include:
- Bachelors degree with 3-4 years experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Superior proofreading and research skills including electronic research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER and/or CourtLink.
- Experience with e-discovery platforms such as Relativity.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
