A reputable law firm with an East Bay location is looking for a legal professional that can carry out both Paralegal and Legal Secretary to join a dynamic team:
Top non-negotiables:
- Must have existing relevant class action wage and hour experience.
- Know how to do legal research, assist attorneys with some initial draft writing as needed.
- Cite checking, preparing/editing TOAs, docket checks.
- Have experience filing in state and federal courts.
- Must be highly organized, strong communication.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Case Management: Assist attorneys in all phases of class action and wage and hour litigation, including pre-suit investigations, discovery, trial preparation, and settlement administration.
- Document Preparation: Draft, proofread, and edit legal documents such as pleadings, motions, declarations, and discovery responses.
- Filing and E-Filing: Prepare and file legal documents with state and federal courts, including electronic filing systems (e.g., CM/ECF).
- Discovery Support: Manage document production and review, including organizing, indexing, and summarizing large volumes of documents and data.
- Client Communication: Serve as a liaison between clients, attorneys, and third parties, ensuring clear and timely communication.
- Legal Research: Conduct research on relevant case law, regulations, and statutes related to class action and wage and hour cases.
- Calendar Management: Maintain case calendars, track deadlines, and schedule meetings, hearings, and depositions.
- Administrative Tasks: Handle routine administrative duties, such as correspondence, managing case files, and ensuring compliance with office procedures.
