Job Details
Responsibilities:
1. Estate Planning Support: Collaborate with attorneys to prepare and review estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney. Ensure accuracy and compliance with legal requirements.
2. Client Communication: Interact with clients, both in person and over the phone, to gather necessary information, answer inquiries, and provide updates on case progress. Demonstrate exceptional professionalism and maintain confidentiality at all times.
3. Document Management: Organize and maintain client files, ensuring all relevant documents are properly filed and easily accessible. Utilize electronic document management systems effectively.
4. Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough legal research on various estate planning matters, including tax implications, probate procedures, and asset protection. Summarize findings and provide recommendations to attorneys.
5. Court Filings: Prepare and file legal documents, such as petitions, affidavits, and pleadings, with the appropriate courts. Monitor filing deadlines and ensure compliance with court rules and procedures.
6. Asset Management: Assist in managing client assets, including real estate, investments, and business interests. Coordinate with financial institutions, appraisers, and other professionals as needed.
7. Trial Preparation: Collaborate with attorneys to prepare for trial, including organizing exhibits, drafting witness lists, and conducting witness interviews. Attend trials and assist attorneys with courtroom logistics.
8. Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to attorneys, such as scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and preparing expense reports. Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence efficiently.
Qualifications:
1. Certified Paralegal: Must possess a valid certification as a Paralegal, demonstrating a strong foundation in legal principles and procedures.
2. Estate Planning Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in estate planning, including drafting wills, trusts, and other related documents. Familiarity with probate and tax laws is highly desirable.
3. Attention to Detail: Meticulous and detail-oriented, with the ability to spot errors and inconsistencies in legal documents. Strong proofreading and editing skills are essential.
4. Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize workload effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
5. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and concisely. Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
6. Research Abilities: Proficient in conducting legal research using various online databases and resources. Ability to analyze and synthesize information accurately.
7. Technology Proficiency: Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite, legal case management software, and electronic document management systems. Familiarity with estate planning software is a plus.
8. Discretion and Integrity: Demonstrates the highest level of professionalism, ethics, and integrity. Handles confidential information with utmost discretion.
