Duties and Responsibilities
Deposition and Subpoena Preparation: Prepare deposition, trial, and record subpoenas in compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinate the production of third-party records and summarize findings for attorney review.
Document Analysis and Organization: Analyze, review, and organize documents and data obtained from clients and during discovery. Prepare and coordinate document production to ensure completeness and accuracy.
Preparation of Materials: Create and maintain trial notebooks, binders, and other materials as needed to support attorneys during litigation.
Drafting and Legal Writing: Assist in drafting and preparing pleadings, motions, submissions, and discovery requests/responses for federal and state court matters, including arbitration and mediation proceedings.
Research and Background Checks: Conduct thorough research and background checks using tools such as LexisNexis, PACER, Accurint, Secretary of State databases, and social media to support case preparation.
Litigation Calendar Management: Maintain an organized litigation calendar for assigned attorneys, ensuring all deadlines, conferences, and key dates are tracked and communicated effectively.
Flexible Work Hours: Demonstrate willingness to work extra hours as needed to meet case demands and deadlines.
Skills and Educational Requirements
Educational Qualifications: Hold a Florida Bar Paralegal Certificate or a Bachelor’s degree.
Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Litigation Paralegal, with a strong understanding of legal processes.
Court Knowledge: Familiarity with both Federal and Florida Courts and their procedures.
Document Management: Proficient in document management systems and experienced with eDiscovery and document review platforms.
Technical Skills: Proficient in a Windows environment and comfortable with legal software applications.
Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills, demonstrating reliability and professionalism.
Attention to Detail: Excellent ability to multi-task while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
Communication Skills: Possess excellent written and oral communication skills, essential for drafting documents and liaising with clients and attorneys.
