Paralegal Tasks & Duties:

Paralegal Tasks & Duties:
- Process Touhy requests and requests for discovery and agency information into the shared network.
- Demonstrated knowledge of common software programs, such as the Microsoft Suite, Westlaw, Lexis-Nexis, Relativity, Concordance, Summation, and search engines, and legal and research databases
- Identifies and organizes data and documents in legal matters.
- Assisting Law Clerk and or Attorney, perform research and summarizes legal requirements.
- Reviews case material and prepares digest of selected decisions/opinions incorporating legal references.
- Searches for and summarizes relevant articles in trade magazines, law reviews, published studies, financial reports, and similar materials for use of attorneys in the preparation of opinions, briefs, and other legal documents.
- Prepares digests of selected decisions or opinions which incorporate legal references and analyses of precedents involved in areas of well-defined and settled points of law.
- Participates in pre-trial witness conferences, notes possible deficiencies in case materials (e.g. missing documents, conflicting statements) and additional issues or other questionable matters, and requests further investigating by other agency personnel to correct possible deficiencies or personally conducts limited investigations at the pre-trial stage.
- Prepares and organizes trial exhibits, as required, such as statistical charts and photographic exhibits.
- Verifies citations and legal references on prepared legal documents.
- Drafts/edits non-legal memoranda, research reports, and correspondence relating to cases.
- Review outgoing materials and correspondence for internal consistency and conformance with the supervisor's procedures; ensure that proper clearances have been obtained when needed. The contractor shall collect information from the files or staff for routine inquiries on office program(s) or periodic reports.
- Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Must have at least one year of work experience and a bachelor's degree
- At least 2 - 5 years' work experience
- Asset Forfeiture Experience preferred but not required.
- Basic paralegal knowledge, including knowledge of standard legal citation system sufficient to perform research
- Ability to work under pressure Knowledge of MS Office Tools and Applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools
- Eligible to receive Public Trust

Salary
60,000 - 65,000 /year
