Job Description
Blast and coat fabricated structures, steel, and Spools using abrasive media blasting and Automated wheel blasting as well as Coating of prepared substrates using conventional and airless spray. This is a full-time year-round job 60+ hours a week primarily inside work in an industrial construction setting. Pay is DOE.
Responsibilities
+ Solvent clean metal per SSPC guidelines.
+ Remove rust from metal and profile steel using abrasive media blasting.
+ Mask and wrap substrates to not be painted using tape and padding.
+ Feather and sand defects in coatings and substrates.
+ Mix and thin paint using PDS guidelines according to required ratio.
+ Set up pressure pot and conventional spray guns for coating application.
+ Maintain and set up airless pumps and guns.
+ Apply even and consistent coating without tiger stripes runs or sags.
+ Stripe coat welds and inaccessible areas with coating.
+ Clean equipment with solvent and maintain a clean work area
+ Rig up spools and steel safely and properly for transport using loader or crane
+ Stack pallets with material intelligently to avoid damage to coating
+ Operate a forklift occasionally to move material
+ Immediately report all Incidents/Accidents, no matter how small, to their Supervisor.
+ Use respirator and supplied air to safely perform blasting and coating.
+ This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
+ Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.
Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
+ Minimum one (1) year directly related experience required.
+ Alaska Painters Certification required.
+ Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy preferred.

The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and taste or smell. Steel toed boots required on the job.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, write routine reports and correspondence, speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Participate in daily tool box meetings by either offering productive feedback and occasionally leading the meeting.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Be willing to learn as well as mentor others in regards to work task completion. Committed to keeping one self and those around safe at all times, including stopping work if unsafe conditions arise.
Be able and willing to perform other duties and job functions. Often times other work crews will need assistance which requires all employees that are available to assist these other job functions to achieve successful project completion.
