About the Job
The PACS Administrator for the Diagnostic Imaging Department serves as the coordinator for the Picture Archiving Communication System, RIS, voice recognition and other softwares for the Imaging department. This position is responsible for all aspects of the PACS system including day-to-day support/operation of the system and project oversight for the PACS project. This position, in conjunction with the PACS Coordinator, is responsible for the integration of the PACS system operation with Information Systems infrastructure and standards. The PACS Administrator works with the PACS Coordinator for project oversight that includes project planning, long-range project –planning, scheduling, reporting, budgeting, tracking, issue management and delivery of assigned projects in regards to PACS. A key component of this position is the training of staff and physicians to use this system as the core operating system for imaging services. This position has fiscal accountability for the PACS and its components and to the Director, Diagnostic Imaging. Works closely with the Diagnostic Imaging Director and Managers to ensure proper operation of DICOM digital image data transfer into the PACS as well as network transmission, RIS validation and exceptions handling. This position works closely with Informactics team asisiting with overall EMR operations as needed.
Education
Associates degree required, (Bachelors Degree preferred), in Radiologic Technology, Information Systems or other applicable specialty.
Experience
Four or more years of experience in hospital, imaging, or IT operations. Diagnostic imaging operations/ background preferred. Excellent workflow management, detail and applications training skills necessary. Excellent written/oral communication skills required. Must be able to work effectively with diverse group of people. Excellent working knowledge of desktop operating systems’ software (i.e., Windows 95/98/2000/ME/NT/XP), Microsoft Office products and web browser use (Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator) required; Radiology information systems and PACS experience preferred.
Licensure/Certifications
Current registry with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, current radiation operator’s certification license issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky if applicable.
