Job DescriptionPurpose: To maintain the building security by monitoring and responding to fire alarms, securing doors, performing walk-throughs, responding to emergency situations, take required readings on equipment, and contacting proper authorities when needed. Answers radio calls and responds to guest room and public area calls in a prompt and professional manner according to standards. Works closely with the Overnight Manager, Auditors and Loss Prevention providing services in all areas of the hotel. Must be able to clean a guest room providing housekeeping services if required. This person must be able to work overnight shifts including weekends and holidays. Primarily works overnight hours and may work other shifts.
Reports to: Director of Engineering
Security Essential Functions:
- Patrol premises to include interior, exterior and parking lot and rooftop to prevent and detect signs of intrusion, malfunction and safety of the hotel and heartists.
- Follow procedures for elevator entrapment.
- Follow procedures reporting in response to water leak.
- Ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
- Patrol all guests’ hallways and report unusual situations to the Night Auditors and Manager to be placed in the daily report.
- Properly respond to trespassing situations and reports it. Calls authorities if needed.
- Monitors alarm panel.
- Have a thorough understanding of Novotel Miami Brickell fire alarm procedures and other emergencies.
- Follow procedures in response to fire alarm.
- Collect all In-Room dining door knob menus and deliver them to the night auditor.
- While patrolling the hallways, pick-up (clean) debris, trays, any F&B items, linens to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Respond to guest calls and delivers any items requested.
- Cleans guests rooms as stay-overs or check-outs as needed.
- Perform any duties requested by Overnight Manager and Night Auditors/front desk.
- Any other task, project or situation that may be assigned by management or that may arise in the shift.
Engineer Essential Functions: It is expected that the Engineer/Security Office/Engineer heartist be able to perform the engineering/maintenance tasks as assigned by management. These tasks may be modified for the overnight shift due to privacy and noise issues for the comfort of the guests, or any other reason determined by management.
- Make repairs to hotel air conditioning system (i.e. change or clean filters, clean coils, replace motors, water valves, actuators, heating strips, purge water lines etc.)
- Perform preventive maintenance on all equipment (i.e. boilers, chillers, HVC-Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning, electrical, etc.)
- Take required readings on equipment.
- Test cooling tower and record readings.
- Replace and program televisions as needed.
- Replaced light switches, receptacles, light bulb and fixtures.
- Perform furniture repair.
- Replaced and repair pumps.
- Perform plumbing repairs (i.e. clogged drains, copper pipe, change washers, change handles, drain fittings, etc.).
- Trace and repair all types of water lines.
- Troubleshoot and report filature to kitchen equipment.
- Maintain repair and preventive maintenance records.
- Perform and maintain work to local, state and federal codes.
- Paint designated areas.
- Repair and finish sheet rock.
- Repair all types of wall coverings.
- Repair and program hotel electronic lock system.
- Perform all routine building inspection checklists.
- Fill out Daily Call Log Report and Incident Reports as needed.
- Clean all work areas after completing the job.
- Maintain all mechanical items in guest rooms and public areas.
- Receive direction for house calls via radio.
- Assist other engineers and mechanics with assignments, work as a team.
- Maintain all grounds and landscaping.
- Pressure washing as needed.
- Have a thorough understanding of Novotel Miami Brickell rules, regulations and SOPs.
- Perform assignments and specific projects requested by management.
